The Harvard Debate Council is delighted to announce the continuation of the Harvard Debate Council International Tournaments, a series of online tournaments to be held throughout the year. We hope to provide a series of competitions offered at times that will allow students around the globe (American students included) to compete against each other. All tournaments will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings in the Americas and on Saturday and Sunday mornings in Asia.

In November, we will host competitions in World Schools Debate, Junior World Schools Debate, and Junior Original Oratory. The tournament dates will be Nov 22-24 (US) / Nov 23-25 (China). All motions in WSD will be impromptu.

The tournament will be conducted online using Zoom.

We will use tabroom.com as the official tournament management and registration.

We will offer two divisions of WSD. The junior division is intended for students in middle school and the open division is intended for students in high school.

We will also offer a Junior Original Oratory division with five minute speeches.

We will offer four preliminary rounds in each division, clearing to the finals in Open WSD and quarterfinals in Junior WSD and in Junior OO.

Pairings and motions will be released approximately 60 minutes prior to start time in open, and 30 minutes prior to start time in junior wsd.

All participants must return to and remain in the online rooms 10 minutes before the start time.
